COVID SAFETY PLANS

We are really happy to be going ahead, but recognise that infection rates are still high and that many people are unwilling to put themselves at risk, or to become a risk to vulnerable loved ones at home.  Penny was clear that she did not want her funeral to add to the numbers of infected people, so please bear that in mind, and show your solidarity, understanding and respect for everyone coming to share memories of her.

It's worth remembering that face-masks are to protect other people and they're pretty good at that.  They don't protect the wearer, that's not what they're for.

If you *are* vaccinated: Please take a Lateral Flow Test before coming to the weekend.
If you *are not* vaccinated: Please consider self-isolating beforehand and blag a PCR test 2 days before coming.

PCR tests are more accurate and can pick up virus caught very recently.  The LFTests are a helpful general guide, but miss about 30% of positive cases. However, we think the risk of vaccinated people carrying a heavy viral load is much reduced. That said, vaccinated people can still get infected and get seriously ill and can infect others.

The Tree-planting: There will be people who are risking coming only to the tree-planting because it is outside and they want to share their love for Penny.  Although being in the fresh air does reduce the risk of transmission, it is still there.
We request that people wear face-coverings and stay conscious of social distancing

The Town Hall: We'll be eating, dancing, singing and laughing. We encourage you to wear a face-mask at the Hall.

The Birchcliffe Centre (Quaker Ceremony): We require everyone to wear a face covering for Sunday's ceremony at the Birchcliffe Centre.  Obviously it won't be possible to keep them on for the bring-and-share lunch.

Thank you for your support and solidarity
